The Claim RWA Scam Tricks Computer Users Out of Money
The "Claim RWA" scheme is a scam, aiming to deceive computer users and extract money from them. Hosted on claimed-rugwa[.]com, this fraudulent setup promises users access to RWA cryptocurrency tokens. However, upon connecting their wallets to the fake page, users fall victim to a crypto-draining mechanism designed to siphon off their digital assets.
According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the rise of crypto scams has resulted in significant financial losses for individuals. Since the beginning of 2021, more than 46,000 people have reported losing over $1 billion in crypto scams, making it the most prevalent form of financial loss reported.
The fake "Claim RWA" website operates under the guise of distributing RWA (Real World Assets) cryptocurrency tokens, representing tangible assets like real estate and machinery. It's essential to emphasize that this scam has no affiliation with legitimate platforms or entities.
When users connect their digital wallets to the scam website, they unwittingly expose themselves to a cryptocurrency-draining mechanism. This results in the transfer of digital assets to wallets controlled by the scammers, often through ambiguous transactions. Victims may lose a significant portion, if not all, of their stored funds, and due to the irreversible nature of these transactions, recovery becomes nearly impossible.
This scam is just one among many cryptocurrency-targeted schemes that operate by draining funds from exposed wallets, stealing login credentials, or tricking users into transferring funds to scammer-owned wallets under false pretenses.
